Heart Search A Celta Novel Robin D Owens Books

This book is about Laev and Camellia. I waited for it eagerly after reading Heart Change where Laev meets Nivea, the woman he believes to be his heart mate and against all advise marries her. However, I was a little let down after reading this book. It seemed too easy, none of the usual tension and conflict, which I love so much from Owens's books, was in this one.

After I reread Heart Change I discovered many discrepancies between the two stories. In Heart Change the meeting, building relationship and marriage of Laev and Nivea is described clearly with lots of conflict and tension. In Heart Search many of the details of the meeting are described completely differently. Owens does not deal with the burning question that Heart Change left me with, How did Nivea fool Laev into thinking that she was his heart mate? Instead, she glosses over it and leaves it as a youthful mistake. It does not work with the rules that Owens has developed for Celta throughout the series.

I love Robin D. Owens's Celta series and own many of the books in this series. However I was disappointed with this book. I will read the next book in the series but I hope it is much better than this one was.

Heart Search A Celta Novel Robin D Owens Books Reviews

When this book came out, I read the reviews, and at the time, there were several not so great reviews. I purchased the book as a fan of Ms. Owens anyway, figuring I'd read it when I got the chance. Today that chance came, and I expected I could take a moment, read a few hours and put it away until tomorrow. After all, the reviews had seemed rather tepid.

Imagine my surprise when I not only couldn't put the book down, but found it to be the best of the lot so far. (I think there's one more I still need to read). It's funny, the fam cats, they are almost like children running rampant through the book, giving a type of levity where the book might otherwise drag.

For those of you who love Ms. Owens previous books, you definitely do NOT want to miss it. For those who have not read any of her Celta series, don't worry. This one stands alone and even gives a tad bit of history of how they came to be.

I won't go into the individual characters, but know I typically like high action books. This book, while not what I would call high octane, offered just the right amount of intrigue and danger. All in all, an EXCELLENT read! (and yes, I meant to do the exclamation point)

So who is the one I have a bone to pick with? Why the bad reviews of course. I give her 5 out of 5
This is the 10th in a long series of books by Robin D. Owens that takes place on her imaginary magical world, Celta. I would recommend reading every single one - and of course this addition to the series - as they are all good to fantastic reads.

As we saw from previous books, Laev T'Hawthorn married the wrong woman, and by doing so he jeapordized his entire family's heritage and lineage. Despite the fact that it happened in the past and Laev is now a widower, Laev still cannot forgive himself for the self-deception and marriage to a shallow social climber. He now knows he DOES have a heartmate out there, but he is none too eager to seek her out and learn her identify at this time in his life.

The heroine, Camellia Darjeeling, is in worse shape. Her entire life she has been abused mentally and physically by her father and his brother. They are absolutely great villians, and my hat is off to Ms. Owens for creating characters you simply loathe and then killing them off in a most CREATIVE way. I loved it when they got what they deserved. Camellia also knows she has a heartmate, but cannot imagine putting her life in any man's hands after the sterling examples she has been raised by.

And, of course, as this is Celta, there are fams in the story - and they are great fams. I especially like Camellia's cat, Mica, who is just Ms. Personality. You can definitely tell that Ms. Owens is a cat lover, because some of her sentences are just as I imagine my own cats would talk if only they could.

With the help of their various friends, fams and even the T'Hawthorn residence, obstacles are overcome and Camellia and Laev finally see their way to a happy ending. I recommend the book as a sweet and pleasant addition to this long running and great series. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the book tended to drag in some places and the obstacles didn't ring true after a while because they were carried on too long, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the read.
